Cuiora Paper Bowls
These beauties are made of 100% recycled paper, woven bands of waterproofed recycled paper to be precise. These striped fruit bowls are handmade by rolling recycled paper bands together in a tight spiral. Once the form is final they’re coated with a water-resistant finish to make them tough and durable. This paper was originally used for carrying heavy rice bags in Japan. You can either display them as a group or separate and the striped fruit bowls also stack beautifully.
They make a striking centerpiece! Too bad I couldn’t find a selling point in Europe so far. If you are from the US you can buy them at Gretel. They are created by Japanese designer Takumi Shimamura for his product line Cuiora. All Cuiora products are made of the same woven bands of 100% recycled paper. Takumi has more contemporary home accessories such as paper cushions, and striped lampshades.

The Fruit bowls are available in six colors. The paper that these bowls are made of were originally used for carrying heavy rice bags in Japan.
