Bring nature into your urban modern bathroom with a carpet that exists out of moss! When I first saw this, I thought it was a reproduction of the real thing, but it isn’t.

This bathroom carpet is made of imputrescible foam called plastazote. Each cell contains a piece of moss. The mat contains a total of 70 pieces of ball, island and forest moss measuring 6cm (2.4in) each in diameter. The humidity of the bathroom and the drops flowing from the body, water the mosses. This vegetable carpet procures a great feeling to your feet according to Nguyen La Chanh, from Switzerland. They will begin selling it in France.

When I visited the DC Design House last April, I had no idea it would lead me to Sandra Steele, the Press Liaison to this not-for-profit corporation.  

Ms. Steele is the proud owner of the Loft at AI, based in Frederick, Maryland.  Although I am a native northern Virginian, I admit that I have never taken the time to visit Frederick, a place that is only a stone’s throw from my home.  

On Saturday, I found may way to Frederick and to the Loft at AI.  If I had a pick-up truck at my disposal, I would have come home with many-a-souvenir.

Netherlands-based i29 interior architects recently has completed a compact interior project for a small apartment in Amsterdam, NL (45 m2), which was completely renovated because of foundation repair. In it’s new layout all the functions of the house are placed in two wall units.

Entrance hall, wardrobe and kitchen equipment are hidden behind a pinewood wall. On the opposite a second wooden wall of the same material is placed. This wall integrated a bench, fireplace and storage. Floor, ceiling and walls are all white. A custom designed table and bench, together with the fireplace are anthracite gray. T
